Legacy number removal instructions.
Removing your provider legacy numbers:
In eCLAIMS, go to EDIT and PROVIDERS. Locate your Medicare and Regence entries and remove the legacy numbers (your old provider and group numbers) from them. To do this, highlight the number (in the QCPVIDNO field) and hit ENTER then SPACEBAR then ENTER again to save it. If you have a group number it will be in the far left field labeled CLINICNO. Use the same procedure to remove it if there is one there.
At this time the only carriers you are required to remove the numbers from are Medicare and Regence. You can remove Blue Cross numbers if you like, but it is not required. Other entities will be removing them in the near future.
Removing referring provider legacy numbers:
In eCLAIMS, go to EDIT and REFERRING PROVIDERS and remove the UPIN number from the UPIN field using the same procedure described above. Only remove those entries that are UPIN numbers in the field. Some entries will contain a Medicaid number or an L & I number (Washington only). Leave those numbers in place for now.
I have written a utility that will remove the UPIN field of all numbers and you can run it if you like. Remember though that it will COMPLETELY strip the UPIN field of it's contents so if you have a lot of Medicaid or L & I entries, you may not want to run it and do it manually instead.
The UPIN removal utility is HERE Choose RUN or OPEN when prompted and extract it to your eCLAIMS folder (usually c:\eclaims) and it will run.
